Listing books - can't add own author

Question

Hi,

I wanted to sell a few books. The author is listed in those suggested by eBay. It wont' let me add my own (the author is Solvej Balle). It just defaults back to a blank space that needs to be completed to continue. I don't want to put a different author's name in, how do I get around this?

Are you using a pc or are you on the app? I've just tested on my laptop and it's working for me. When you enter a name in the box, you should get "Add custom value" appear below it with a repeat of what you've just entered next to a box to tick. Once you tick the box, the name you've entered will stay there. It's a really convoluted, counter-intuitive setup tbh but it should work.

If you're on the app, then that's another matter and there may be a tech issue on that.
