Leaving Ebay. My funds are on hold all of a sudden. I spoke with eBay about the purchase a fake purc
I recently informed eBay I would be leaving. I disagree with their policy for persons on here to sell fake works of art. eBay says it is not in their remit.
Now my funds are on hold and eBay would like more of my banking details. It was never a problem before. I am closing the account , but now I am unable to do this as they hold my funds.

·10 months agoYou are assuming that Ebay have requested information because you have told them you would be leaving. It is likely that there is no connection.
Until you start the procedure to close your account - and there is a specific link to close your account - it's unlikely that your account would be flagged in any way.
Can you explain what you mean by 'more of my banking details'?
You have been receiving payments for a long time, so I assume you had given Ebay the details necessary to pay you and had a direct debit set up.
Have they asked for your NI number because you have passed the threshold of 30 sales?

What further information?

OP10 months agoI had it checked out and a few days later they had the same piece of art up on eBay with a slightly different colour scheme.
The fact that they supplied a false certificate to prove it was a Banksy is an indication that they were aware it was fake.
I contacted them and they ignored my complaint.
eBay replied to my complaint indicating that this was not an issue with them.

Mentor10 months agoI am sorry but none of that makes sense in the context of being asked for 'further bank details' by ebay.
It explains the fake you bought but not the bank details bit.
Did you use the money back guarantee for the 'Banksy'?

OP10 months agoeBay is the front for these businesses and is happy to continue allowing them to sell fake works of art.

Mentor10 months agoSorry but you are not being clear at all. None of the responders on here work for ebay or are connected with ebay, but we do have a very good understanding of ebay's processes work, which we use to help others (as long as we can understand what the actual problem is).
There seems to be two separate issues here that you are conflating. You need to deal with then separately.
1. Ebay does not allow fakes to be sold and has the ebay money back guarantee to protect buyers if they receive one. When used properly the MBG gets a buyer a full refund at no cost to them. If you did not use this to get a refund for the fake item, why not?
2. If ebay is asking you for a direct debit to be set up, that's part of managed payments and quite normal, if they are asking you to reconfirm your bank details, that's part of their Know Your Customer checks, and also quite normal.

·10 months agoSorry if I have confused you.
My post related to this:
'As far as I can tell they use a company in the UK to deal with funds. It is this company that is requesting further information even though there has been no change with my account.'
I was asking what company has asked for further information?
What is the information they have requested?
I don't understand, if Ebay is holding your funds, why you won't give them the 'further information' they have asked for.
If I knew what they had asked you to reveal, I might understand why you seem reluctant to do so.
That's all.

Contact Customer Services, but I recommend doing this only at 8 a.m. when lines first open for 'live agents' as then, there's more chance of Dublin answering. Ask them to confirm it is eBay asking for this information re your bank account details. If it is, what exactly do they require.
This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/eua?id=5275&mkevt=1&mkpid
Lines open 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays
9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on weekends.
Automated agents will be available on chat outside of the above hours.

·10 months agoDo you mean they have asked you to set up a Direct Debit to Ebay Commerce UK Ltd?
If that is what they have asked you to do, it is not in any way sinister.
All sellers have to have a DD set up to Ebay in case of refunds or fees.

Mentor10 months agoYou'll need to supply eBay with the information they're asking for then, once you have your payment, end any active listings and start your account closure (it can take a few weeks for it to close down completely, depending on when your last transaction was).

Mentor10 months agoif there are outstanding problems eBay won't close your account and in any event that cannot happen as you have live listings.
