Item was sent by Simple Delivery and damaged in transit and I have to refund the Buyer
I sent an item by Simple Delivery and when it arrived with the Buyer the item had become damaged. This is evidenced by a photo showing that the postal box had literally looked like it had been stamped on. Ebay have now said that the Seller has to return the item and I have to issue a full refund. I'm now out of pocket with a damaged item that is going to be hard to resell due to the damage. What can I do?

Mentor3 months agoFor ebay to issue the refund themselves the buyer has to open the correct return case, ie. they have to use the reason "Damaged in delivery". If they have used a different reason you could ask them to contact ebay to get it changed. Send them this link:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/eua?id=5190
And tell them it has to be viewed on their phone, not on a PC/laptop. Then they will see the options to ring ebay or request a callback.
If they did use that reason you should contact ebay yourself and point out that Simple Delivery was used and therefore ebay should issue the refund and you keep the payment.

OP3 months agoThanks for the info. The issue I'm having is that eBay originally sent me a message saying "You don't need to issue a refund nor do you need to request the item to be returned" and said that it was resolved. 2 days later they're telling me the Buyer will be refunded and the damaged item will be returned to me. I've tried to contact an actual person to discuss this, but I just keep getting sent round in circles using their online AI contact.
