item ordered 23 March. Due for delivery 1-5 May
Hi I purchased an item 23 March. From an international seller listed as a business. I requested a cancellation on the 29th March. I had contacted the seller explaining I wished to cancel the order so that I could re-order and add extra items to benefit from reduced postage costs. It may sound petty but one extra item costs £4.40'ish and the postage is £8.80'ish. It's two small metal ring clips. Thin wire and no weight. There was two other items with similar excessive postage costs. In total, a further sale of £33 and postage costs of £19.33. When added to my original order which was £16.68 + postage of £10.20 it means my total postage would be £29.55. Now call me fussy but the original order was for heavier piece of rubber hose and cost £10.20 postage yet a couple of small rings cost £8.80'ish. I use 'ish because I haven't worked the figures exactly and added VAT. But I'm sure you get my gist, it seems the postage is excessive and Ebay used not to allow unreasonable postage. Now to add insult to injury, the seller has informed me that the order they refused to cancel won't even be sent until 22 April yet it was ordered and paid for on 23 March! I'm truly getting disillusioned with Ebay. It's got no ethics or morals anymore. I'd like to hear other peoples opinions, even if they say I'm in the wrong.

·6 months agoNeither the seller nor Ebay have done anything wrong here.
If you want to negotiate combined postage, the time to do it is before you pay, not after.
Ebay rules state that sellers don't have to accept cancellations, especially days after an order has been placed and accepted.
The dispatch/delivery date would have been shown on the listing. If it's the European seller who has left you feedback recently, their latest estimated delivery date, if I bought from them today, is 5th May, so they clearly have a long dispatch time.
When you buy online, especially from overseas sellers, check the estimated delivery date. Accept that when you buy on Ebay, you do not have an automatic right to cancel, and finish your shopping and any negotiations before you pay,
