"Item not as described" abuse?
Summary: warrior-sentoki shared a frustrating experience with a buyer who exploited the returns system for a PS game sold with a non-original box. Despite clearly describing the item's condition, the buyer requested a return, citing mismatched expectations. warrior-sentoki is worried about receiving a counterfeit item back and the lack of seller protection, which seems inadequate in such cases. papso22 commented on the general lack of seller protection for these claims and advised waiting to see the outcome, noting that sellers can't leave negative feedback for buyers.
I sold an item very fast to a seller who put a cheeky offer in, which I accepted - PS game with non original box. The description stated box not original, disc is original. Obviously the slip in the case was not original, and the buyer was a clearly set up business page ironically selling plenty of "untested sold as seen" PS games, many with non original slips in their casings...
The buyer messaged to say they didn't want a repro slip, to which I pointed him back to the description which clearly stated the presence of non original box. He immediately files a return stating he "doesn't want non original parts in his collection". As per ebays money back buyer protection, I didn't really have any other choice than to honour the refund, and am now concerned what sort of state my item will be returned in as they can sell for much more than I let it go for (I am just trying to save a bit and declutter to move house!)
I am genuinely worried he will return a counterfeit disc and resell the other one. Even if not, I am out of pocket a returns label too.
If I negative feedback, I am afraid he will just return the courtesy with the lie that my item description was wrong.
I am reasonably quite upset about this ordeal, and really shocked to see the lack of seller protection in this circumstance, especially as had there been an option for a human to quickly review the item description it would've been very quickly resolved as abuse of the returns system?

Mentor3 weeks agoThere is next to no seller protection for item not as described claims, whether justified or not.
Just wait and see what comes back.
Sellers can't leave buyers negative feedback.
