Mentor5 months agoThe bidding history shows that you placed a maximum bid and ebay used that to automatically bid for you until you won.

Mentor5 months agoDid you buy from an overseas seller eg your bid was for £250 but with vat at 20% takes cost to £300?

You don't need to have bid today. One possibility is that you accidentally bid more than you intended three days ago (say £2,500 instead of £250, a common mistake). eBay would continue to draw from this maximum until the auction ended, to keep you as the winner.
Eith so little informationn it's impossible to say conclusively what happened. If you tell us the item number there may be a clue in the bidding history.

Mentor5 months agoDid you enter a maximum bid as well as your actual one? If so then as others bid ebay bids for you automatically up to your maximum.
