Bought a small item from a seller the other day. Got a message from eBay this morning and also from Royal Mail saying that I had an item ready for collection.
I was puzzled by this as I hadn't specified anything I've bought recently for collection from a post office. Had a look and the messages refer to the item bought the other day and the tracking on eBay just says to go and collect it. If this had been a post office near me I'd have just gone and got it for simplicity but it's one about 50 miles away!
I have messaged the seller (only just now so fair enough that they haven't replied yet) and trying to report "item not arived" via eBay says that I have to wait until middle of next week which is the last day it is specified to arrive.

OP2 months agoThanks, yes it's really weird. I am wondering if the seller had multiple sales they took to the post office and somehow put my name against someone else's address. However, they're sending it via eBay "simple delivery" so you'd assume that mistake would be impossible with labels to print out generated by the site etc.

Mentor2 months agoUnusual and unlikely that an item will be held in a Post Office for collection unless you have made prior arrangements. Undelivered mail is normally held for 17 days in a local Royal Mail sorting and delivery Office before being returned to sender --- contact RM to see if it is there.
