Item damaged in transit (Seller perspective)
Summary: mannangatti sold a replacement bathroom sink on eBay that they received after repairing the original. The buyer reported it arrived damaged, and mannangatti is seeking advice on whether they need to issue a refund despite having stated a no returns policy. They mention financial losses due to postage and promotion costs and express uncertainty about their obligations, given they were unaware of the damage.
Hello, I bought a bathroom sink from elsewhere which was damaged and they sent a replacement. I did not open the 2nd one and sold it on ebay as I did a bit of DIY and fixed the old one whilst replacement was processed. The replacement item I sold on ebay turned out to be faulty too as the buyer who bought from me has just told me it arrived damaged. I did list on my selling that I do not accept returns but do I now have to fully refund? THere is a lot of info on buyer rights but here I wasnt even genuinely aware that the item was faulty and just resold it to cover my DIY costs. What do you people suggest I do? I lost money on postage, promotion too in this transaction.

Mentor1 month agoIf it was damaged in transit and you used Simple Delivery you are protected. ebay will pay the refund, not you, as long the buyer opens the correct case. So ask the buyer to open a return using "item damaged in delivery" as the reason. Then eBay will issue the refund themselves and you keep the original payment. They will not be required to return the item.
