Item arrived but was not working.
Summary: mrsnesbitt purchased a Miele Turboteq Head that was not functioning due to internal damage caused by melted plastic from hair clogging. mrsnesbitt managed to clean and repair it but is concerned about its future functionality and believes it should have been sold as not working. *vyolla* advised opening an eBay return for a potential refund or partial refund negotiation, while red_magpie noted that attempting repairs might have violated eBay's return policy, suggesting negotiation with the seller as a possible solution.
I purchased a Miele Turboteq Head. It has a brush bar that is meant to spin (using the airflow). Although it was in great external cosmetic condition. It was possible it was just a bit clogged with pet hair etc. Fortunately I am capable of servicing it. There was a part that was severely bound with hair, and because it was never cleaned it had melted the plastic housing to hold the axle. Despite this damage I have managed to completely clean and get it working.
My question is that without me doing this it would not have been able to work. It obviously is broken inside, so there is a question of for how long it will work? What are my options as it in my opinion should have been sold as not working? And I wouldn’t have purchased it.
How do I get advice as to getting a partial refund etc?

Mentor3 months agoAs you cannot return in the condition as received, then any settlement is between you and seller

Mentor3 months agoJust to mention that by attempting to repair it yourself you may have violated eBay's condition of returns policy. This requires items to be returned in the condition supplied, so it's better to return faulty items as received.
eBay usually finds in favour of the buyer, but it may be best if you and the seller can negotiate a partial refund. This would be between the two of you and avoid involvement of eBay in any dispute.
