Is eBay tracking as terrible as customer "service"?
Summary: peripheralpip described an issue with a shirt ordered from Italy that was shipped via DPD. The shipment appeared stuck near Brussels and was marked as delivered on eBay, despite tracking indicating otherwise. peripheralpip contacted both the seller and DPD but received no resolution. The eBay Money Back Guarantee window closed, leaving them unable to claim a refund. fargvs advised checking the delivery date and contacting the payment provider for a chargeback. peripheralpip mentioned contacting eBay's EU HQ after facing challenges in communication. john1297576 questioned the potential benefit for eBay to allow the situation to occur, while peripheralpip expressed frustration at the incorrect tracking information affecting their ability to resolve the issue.
I ordered a shirt from Italy on 11 August and tracked it – carrier was DPD. It stopped on 18 Aug near Brussels. I contacted DPD on 27 August and they told me the parcel was damaged and the seller had to get in touch with them as only the seller could start an investigation.
I contacted the seller, also on 27 August. They replied they would look into it. I didn't hear anything. I never received the shirt. I contacted DPD again on 8 September; they still had the package. Anyway, I was away for a short break in September and returned to find that in my eBay account it says the parcel was delivered on 25 August! It wasn't! Not least as DPD stated in their emails on 27 August and 8 September that they still had it AND the DPD tracking says otherwise – it's still at their depot near Brussels.
The seller hasn't answered any of my subsequent messages as they presumably believe it HAS been delivered – even though I have given them my DPD tracking so they can see for themselves.
Because of the incorrect tracking by eBay the 30-day window has closed! So I can't get any help with it.
Anyone else have a similar issue? Where on earth does eBay get its tracking info from? I think it's a scam so the 30-day window (which I didn't know about) closes early.
I'm €42.90 out of pocket and am furious.

OP1 week agoJust to add – ebay customer service is as bad as ebay tracking. They refuse to even investigate because the 30-day window has closed. They also removed my feedback from the seller's page and I have no option to write another review.

Mentor1 week agoWhat ever benefit would ebay get by allowing the 30 days to run out. It is either the buyer or seller who loses here not ebay.
Buyer can ask payment provider to help, in which case seller will end up refunding and also incur a fee.

OP1 week agoThanks! Estimated date of delivery was 20 August. I imagined I was already taking action by contacting DPD and the seller. I rarely use eBay so I didn't know about their window. I have emailed head office.

Mentor1 week agoCan I just point out, this is UK site.
You need to contact eBay from your own country's site.

OP1 week ago · EditedI ordered on ebay.nl and have contacted the EU HQ in Germany. I'm English so understandably I wanted a message board in English. Ebay make it bloddy difficult to contact them.
