Involuntary name on ebay account change
Hi
Hope someone can help, I've had an account on ebay since 2003, one handle, 'segaman40' 100's positive feedback, never so much as a neutral, suddenly I wake to my account now titled '742192' with 2 positive feedback. Trying to get ebay to look into what's happened is so difficult. They ask, 'what's the name on the account?' I tell them, they respond with, that's not the name on the account. I explain I've had the segaman40 account since 2003, my real name hasn't changed, my bank details and email addresses haven't changed, so why has name name and feedback suddenly changed. They're simply not bothered, the ask a second time for the account detaiuls, again I read out from my account, name adress etc, but she said, I'have told you that's not what we have, and she put the phone down, incredible. I have just set off selling again after mainly buying on ebay, and I have quite a rare collection of retro 8-bit computers for sale, but unless I can get this mess sorted out, I'm not bothering any more, my first sale finishes today and it will be my last if they don't put things right. Anyone out there had a similar experience, know a possible solution, thanks in anticipation.

Mentor6 months agoWhile a username can be changed, the feedback number can't so this is not your original account.
My guess is that you inadvertently created a new account by logging in using Google or Facebook, and have used it to buy a few things.
Try logging in from scratch using your old username and password. You might need to clear cache and cookies.

OP6 months agowhilst I don't doubt what you say, can one really inadvertently open an
account? I can't think of any reference to this '_742292'. I will
certainly try what you suggest when I get back home. It's weird that I can
furnish ebay customer service with all my personal info and history and
they just literally put the phone down, I wasn't even agitated or anything.
Regardless I appreciate your immediate efforts to help, I'll give it a go
later, here's hoping, Regards
Tony

Mentor6 months agoFYI --- Have you unintentionally opened another account ? --- Reported to happen when using Phones /Apps to Login using Apple/Google/Facebook links resulting in opening a new 'cloned' account with lost history/missing/corrupted details.
Using a PC/Laptop, log out completely and try to recover your Original account/history with a fresh Homepage login > www.ebay.co.uk < and previous/usual email/Username/s/Password/s etc. --- or reset your password --- any new account can then remain unused or closed.
