Invoices cannot be sent for items where eBay manages all or part of the postage.
I have just sold a magazine to the US. I want to put the correct postage on and invoice the buyer. It is not letting me do this. Firstly this is not the USA so not part of Simple Delivery. Secondly I am not, nor have I ever been part of GSP. My customers like me sending their items using Royal Mail. They have no objections to me adding a small amount for packaging, which is ultra important to protect my lovely collection. ebay do not allow that. They also allow Evri to throw my books all over the countryside, even when I have chosen Royal Mail as my only option. The programmers allow amendments to the system before they have tested them in a test environment. This has got to be a bug, so why hasn't it been fixed. Also why does nobody ever listen as every time I write one of these comments or feedback absolutely no attention is paid to it.

Mentor7 months agoYour 'footsteps' listing shows Royal Mail International Standard at £12.65 for postage, you will receive this in your payment from eBay minus the international fees
You can buy the label direct from Royal Mail if you want.

OP7 months agoHello and thank you for your comment. To the first sentence, yes I know but the postage is not necessarily correct and I might have been able to save the buyer some money with an invoice. Conversely I might be losing money. I cannot pack up every book/magazine/etc. so I can get an exact weight for the end product.
For your second sentence I have an account with Royal Mail Click & Drop which has worked fine for me over the many years I have been using it. I don't see any reason to change that situation. It is bad enough that I am (seemingly) going to be forced to use the Simple Delivery postage/method for any new listings (for the UK anyway).
The fact of the matter is that I have never seen that message, blocking the invoice, before. I can find no eBay newsletter or message about it. I have never had this problem before. QED it's a bug - sorry.

Mentor7 months agoDid you have direct overseas postage on your listing? Then you wouldn't need to send an invoice. Also check you're opted out of Global Shipping in case ebay have defaulted you back in - here:

OP7 months agoThank you for your reply. I've checked all my postal preferences and they are as I set them. That is, opted out of everything, especially GSP. I have never been involved in any of their shipping programs because they don't work for me, particularly as a Private Seller (mostly of my large book collection). I'm not sure I understand the "direct overseas postage" comment though? I specify 4 levels of postage which matches the Royal Mail international areas using the highest value in each case. I also tell people in my narrative on all my lists that if they want a correct postage quoted for their specific region/area then to ask for an invoice. All quotes are based on Tracked values for loss or damage. I cannot replicate the millions of combinations there must be, nor can I keep my postage up to date with the latest values (I would be there forever!).
Bottom line, my settings are correct, and I have changed nothing. Therefore ebay have made a change and it's incorrect, it's a bug!
