International shipping mess - Paid $81.29 shipping, seller only sees $6 and won’t ship.
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone can help clarify how eBay shipping works here, because I’m stuck.
I’m the buyer of a $100 item.
At checkout, I paid $81.29 just for shipping (confirmed on my eBay order and payment receipt).
However, the seller is telling me that on their end, eBay only shows that I paid $6 for shipping, and because of that they don’t want to ship the item since the actual shipping cost is around $25.
My questions are:
Why would I be charged $81.29 for shipping, but the seller only see $6?
Is the rest of the shipping being held or managed by eBay (e.g., international / global shipping)?
Is the seller still expected to ship the item based on the order details?
Does eBay later refund any shipping overage once the item ships?
Right now the item hasn’t shipped because of this confusion, and I’m trying to understand how eBay intends this to work so I can explain it to the seller (or know what to do next).
Thanks in advance, really appreciate any insight from people who’ve dealt with this before.

Mentor7 months agoHave you bought from a UK seller?
If so it may be a Global Shipping transaction in which case the seller will only see the postage paid to send to the UK shipping centre, once received by them they will send it on to you for the extra amount.
