International Postage HELP
Summary: wight-spider is facing an issue with sending an item internationally through eBay, as they are only given a high-cost courier option instead of the intended Royal Mail tracked and signed service. The buyer has already paid £40 for postage, but the cheapest option provided is £320. wight-spider is seeking advice on whether they can send the parcel through the Post Office with their chosen postage option and if doing so would affect their payout from eBay. They express confusion over recent postage changes.
Hi,
I've sold an item that needs to be posted internationally. I previously had experience selling internationally but not since the simple postage change came into effect.
I want to send my item via tracked and signed postage via Royal Mail. Approximate postage is £40.
When I go to the sold item page on eBay, I am only being given the option to send via a courier at a cost of £320.
What can I do? Can I go to the Post Office, send the parcel via my postage option? Buyer has paid the postage of £40. Does eBay require me to send it via their courier service only? Am I risking not getting the payout?
I have to send it today... it's much more confusing than it used to be.
Thanks everyone.

Mentor2 weeks agoIs it going to the US? If so, the tariff that's payable will inflate the postage. Couldn't tell you where that £320 price is coming from, that's crazy high.
You can cancel the order and then relist with your own shipping method and price to the US, factor in that you will be charged 10% of the sold price plus a £1.50 admin fee (50p if you buy online) by the Post Office though.
