InPost Locker Collection - Paypal Payment error
Summary: harr_566652 is experiencing issues with the eBay checkout process, as they encounter an error when trying to pay via PayPal for an InPost locker collection. Despite having the correct mobile number linked to both eBay and PayPal, they receive messages indicating a number is missing. The link to update the number does not function, and customer support has confirmed that their information is correctly registered, leaving them unable to resolve the issue. tobiasd4 suggested checking PayPal settings, but harr_566652 clarified that the problem resides with eBay, leading to frustration over an unpaid item strike.
I'm trying to buy an item using Inpost locker collection and want to pay via Paypal.
My address, name and telephone number are all correct.
I complete the checkout on ebay, it sends me to Paypal, I login and everything is fine. I complete the checkout on Paypal
It then bounces me back to ebay and gives me a nonsensical red error message;
"Continue to PayPal to complete checkout or choose a different payment method."
When I scroll down I note there is a red exclamation mark;
"Add a mobile number to receive text collection alerts."
MY NUMBER IS ALREADY ADDED TO EBAY. ITS ALREADY THERE. WHY IS IT TELLING ME I NEED TO ADD A MOBILE NUMBER???
What's worse is that the blue link to add a number is a dead link, it doesn't open a webpage where I can add a number specific for this delivery.
Im tearing my hair out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've wasted time after 30 minutes trying to explain a fairly simple error on their useless website, they confirm that my number is correctly registered on their website and theres nothing I can do at my end to make it work. All they can do is "report it." Why will it not allow me to complete this checkout!!!!

Mentor1 month agoHave you added mobile number to Paypal?
They are probably sending a code to verify it is you.
FYI. Paypal & ebay are no longer linked.

OP1 month ago · EditedThis is an ebay checkout issue. It has nothing to do with Paypal.
But yes my number is linked to Paypal and has been on my paypal account for decades, which matches the same number I've got on ebay.
Both ebay and paypal have one number for me, which is my UK EE 07 number.
Both paypal and ebay use my number to log me in and theres never an issue with them sending OTP codes to me to login.
Unpaid item strike against me because ebays checkout wont let me pay.
