Impossible to contact Ebay with problem
I purchased goods from a vendor as vendor offered Royal Mail carriage. Vendor despatched by EVRI, which is a breach of distance selling law. I complained to vendor, vendor apologised and promised a 50% refund as compensation once I received the goods. I agreed. I have the correspondence
The goods arrived, I contacted seller, seller didn't respond. I eventually discovered Ebay had removed seller, so, of course, seller wasn't receiving my messages, let alone responding.
The real problem, however, is contacting Ebay for help with a situation of their making, which they don't allow for in their circuitous problem-solving rigmarole.
The AI assistant, like all of its kind, is useless, it wants me to start a return request in order to claim a refund that has nothing to do with returning the goods.
It appears that once Ebay has removed a vendor, it disclaims responsibility for any fall-out left behind.
The problem of "courier fraud" seems to be quite serious, in the past 8 weeks I have selected several vendors because they use Royal Mail, only to find they actually use EVRI. I don't buy from vendors that offer EVRI. I prefer to receive my order on time (if at all) and at a civilised hour (not 21.00 on a wintery night).
The first time this happened I found out (tracking number) the fraud within an hour of ordering. I tried to cancel, Ebay wouldn't let me, claiming goods had been posted. This was a downright lie, as evidenced by the order tracking. I guess Ebay don't like cancellations as they lose their "cut" from the sale.
I have been advised to tell the Royal Mail about the false claims, which are costing them business

Be aware, any partial refunds are solely between buyer and seller, and cannot be enforced.
However, as you say, it's eBay who removed the seller, they do not do this lightly, so there must have been serious selling breaches, so it's worth a shot to see what they suggest.
