Illegal VAT collection
On my latest sale EBay has collected VAT , no only is this a personal sale and not subject to VAT but it is sheet music which is VAT exempt! I tried to find a mechanism to complain but I just seem to end up in a loop of irrelevant info.

OP11 months agoOK my bad - the VAT is actually only on the postage - but the packing list has vat against the item confusing the customer!

Mentor11 months agoAre you getting confused with buyer protection fee?
Ebay charge this fee to buyers, it includes VAT, but buyer pays it not seller.

Mentor11 months agoThe last 3 items shown as sold went for 8p, so any VAT would be next to nothing, but was buyer in the UK as if not Buyer would pay VAT at the rate for their country.

It's often the case that members misunderstood Ebay's way of putting things and what they think is happening, isn't.
