If i'm not selling on ebay = i'm not buying on ebay
Was looking to buy new stock on ebay & had a dozen skateboards in my checkout ready to buy BUT sales have dropped off a cliff since August 1st 2026 , ebay's Boss stated he does not want "ONE & DONE" buyers , So has something changed on ebay that I missed ? & please no you should have a business account replies...........thanks

Ebay requires sellers to use a business account when they buy to sell. That's for both buying stock and selling stock.

Mentor1 month agoYou are in the UK. You are therefore subject to ebay uk rules and UK trading laws.

Mentor1 month ago · EditedUSA trading regs are very different to UK ones, and the respective eBay UK and eBay US sites are compliant with these.
It actually makes no sense to trade as a business in the UK as not be registered correctly because you can offset expenses (stock purchase, fees, etc) against a business account, but you can't claim anything as a private seller, and eBay report your sales to HMRC anyway.

OP1 month ago · EditedI am aware that ebay USA does not harass ebay sellers re-business accounts due to the sheer number of these sellers in the USA , I have been approached a few times by ebay UK business sellers asking to do deals OUTWITH ebay , does this break ebay rules & regs ????????????? I'm self employed since 1995 so include ebay in my tax return

Mentor1 month agoI'm from the US and that's not correct, irrelevant too if you are registered in the UK and trading as a business in the UK. You need to be compliant with UK trading regs, I wouldn't fixate too much on the regs and workings on a site on another continent. You are answerable to HMRC, not the IRS.
As regards being approached to do 'off eBay' deals, if these offers are coming via eBay messages you can report them if you wish. There's an option on the message itself to do that.

Do you mean you were not allowed to buy? Otherwise please explain what the problem is?

OP1 month agoProblem is obviously in my headline , Chairman of ebay Jamie Iannone quoted I don't want anymore " ONE & DONE " buyers , if you can't work that out ...... it means he wants REPEAT customers but if i'm not selling on ebay = i'm not buying on ebay .............pretty simple really
