I was cheated and deluded for months by seller to avoid responsibility for selling a fake battery.
the seller is selling fake batteries and people unaware how to check them and getting batteries which looks like a genuine ones, are happy to give positive feedback and business goes on. But after checking the negative feedback of this seller there a lot of people who know what is going on. Unfortunately, I did not check the feedback before and after I made a purchase and discovered what did I get, I initially believed in what seller was saying and was deluded and cheated with empty promises of replacement. I even was given a fake tracking number for replacement which turned out to be tracking to someone unaware it is about getting fake product. Is there any way to make ebay pay attention for this case? Automatic assistant is not very helpful and getting in touch with ebay I find next to impossible. I reported the seller the proper way but it seems it has no impact at all. Is there anything to prevent people to fall in this trap?

Mentor4 months agoThe only way would be to make it impossible for buyers to proceed with a purchase unless they had actually read how the money back guarantee works. That's not going to happen.
Ebay provides the means to get refunds in these circumstances but clever sellers know how to play the system against buyers who don't understand the money back guarantee only lasts for 30 days after delivery.
We see this a lot.

Funny thing, I actually know the rules and I am aware of seller who try to play the system. In this case I was fulled by high positive feedback and therefore believed seller. I just forgot that people would not notice if battery has 40% less capacity if they are not computer crank and as a result give a positive to seller. It seems to me that batteries for computer/other devices are perfect items for such fraud. I wish I thought about it before purchase.

Mentor4 months agoThere are other ways of protecting yourself, NEVER accept offers of replacements. It is a delaying tactic, will rarely arrive and you have used up your one and only chance of using the Money Back Guarantee. Always go for full refund.
Only buy from Business Sellers, can still be difficult to enforce but you have more rights than against the many Business Sellers pretending to be Private Sellers. Ebay could tighten up on this but do not seem to care although they are defrauding ebay of the proper fees.
