I think I'm being scammed on eBay
Summary: incewilliams is concerned about a potential scam involving an iPhone sale on eBay. They sold a new iPhone 17 Pro Max, but the buyer claimed it wouldn't switch on and reported issues with the delivery label not scanning. john1297576 advised checking if a return case has been opened and suggested cancelling the faulty label, as it was purchased through eBay and not a postal service issue.
I sold an iPhone 17 Pro Max Brand new unopened, the person received it and then they sent me a message saying that the phone would not switch on, after looking at closer detail the sales detail page I noticed that there were two names on there I know this could be normal so went to the post office website and paid for and downloaded a special delivery postage label so that if it went missing I'd be covered for the value of the phone, the person has just messaged me saying that the postage label will not scan, I sent this postage label through eBay So I desperately need advice on what I should do

OP1 week agothe buyer did open a case but I was advised to purchase a special delivery printing label that I to the buyer through eBay apparently if shipping labels do not scan then the person at the post office would then type in the serial number that's on the postage label As far as I'm aware I have done everything correctly

Mentor1 week agoIf you mean the Buyer has opened a return case, then by not following procedure you have got into this problem. If buyer has not opened a return case that is what he should do and you proceed through the case.
If possible I suggest cancelling this non working label, again bought through ebay, so not the problem of Royal Mail.
