I paid for an item and all I received was an empty envelope
Hello, I won a fairly expensive coin after making a best offer, but all I received was an unsealed envelope, almost empty apart from another envelope inside it, possibly to give the impression that something substantial was inside. The envelope arrived by Tracked mail, so when I complained to eBay that the coin had not arrived they told me that it had arrived. I have contacted the seller politely twice but have received no reply, and eBay says I can't appeal the case as the case is closed. I probably should have reported it as a 'Not as described' issue since the folded envelope was not the coin described, but I reported it as not received, to which eBay says that I have it, due to the Tracked mail. Is there any other means of reasoning this problem with eBay, please?

OP6 months agoThank you, I've also heard from eBay support who've suggested I start a Return This Item process, but before I'd seen their or your message I've submitted a Received Wrong Item process, relating to the folded-up envelope. Hopefully I'll get the refund. thanks for your help.

Mentor6 months agoThat will be fine. The specific reason doesn't matter as long as it's not a 'change of mind' reason, which the one you chose is not.

Mentor6 months agoSeller now has two options, he either provides a return label to return an empty envelope, which is a pointless expense, or just refunds. If he does nothing within 3 days, on day 4 escalate to ebay.
