I have been scammed - can eBay help
Summary: m1ke_d reports feeling scammed after purchasing an item from a seller on eBay who requested payment outside the platform due to postage limitations. Despite the seller's reassurance, m1ke_d believes they are a scammer and wants to recover their funds and alert others. tommystrezures advises that since the transaction was off-site, eBay cannot assist, and suggests contacting the payment provider for help.
I tried to purchase an item from a seller with 100% feedback who is still trading on eBay. They said they could not put the postage service I needed on eBay (item too heavy) and so I had to pay them directly. I spoke to them and they seemed genuine.
I sent the money and they are occasionally responding to my update requests but I am Now fairly confident they are a scammer and I am seeking to recover my funds, plus I want to protect others against them.
What can I do, I now understand I went outside eBay but they are still an eBay seller and so should be able to get the associated feedback to help out others.
Thanks

Mentor3 weeks agoIf this was an 'off eBay' deal then you can't leave feedback.
How did you fund that payment, was it PayPal?

Mentor3 weeks agoAs you conducted an off site sale, then ebay wont be able to help.
You could try your payment provider/source to see if they can assist you.
