I have a buyer for my car and would prefer he pays by bank transfer, is that OK?

Mentor3 months agoI would take cash only. Even after the money is in your bank account if the buyer can convince their bank that they were the victims of fraud the bank can claw it back. Unlikely but possible.
For ebay the buyer just uses the listing to buy if you have it as auction or Buy It Now and that's it. eBay expect sellers to accept cash for vehicles so payment doesn't go through them.

Mentor3 months agoAs the vehicle was only around £2k in your position I would ask for cash on collection.
You may want "to be happy the money is in my bank account" but what about your buyer? Don't assume that they will be happy to pay in advance of collection, if that's what you're implying.
We hear of "roadside bank transfers" being made by phone, but this assumes that you both have live online access to your bank accounts.
Incidentally, whatever you arrange with the buyer is between the two of you; there will be no "process on eBay". Motor vehicles are not paid for through eBay's checkout and I take it that both you and the buyer realise that there is no buyer or seller protection from eBay, whatever happens.

Mentor3 months agoCash or bank transfer are the only means available, but you must be able to see the money in your account before completing the sale, you must not rely on trust that it has gone through. That is why ideally cash is best.
