I bought car which broke down, AA found 30 faults - seller had car back but wont refund £3695 of my money - how do I report this to ebay & get money back?

I bought Peugeot 308 off ebay on Monday 6th and gave seller, my VW golf estate in part exchange and £3695. Peugeot broke down and AA found 30 faults! I had to fight to get my VW back as had driven from Highlands en route to Cornwall and needed a reliable car to get there and back to Scotland. After various excuses (my car was in body shop, seller busy till 8pm following day!) I refused to leave till I got my car back and got it 4pm the following day which left me a day less for my holiday. However seller got his faulty Peugeot back (AA said a part had been removed which made it illegal!) but a week later has not refunded the money I paid him. His seller info appeared to be a legitimate garage but when I got there it was just a dozen cars on a patch of land! The secretary appears to have been his wife! I cannot see how to report him to ebay and get my money back. Help please! I am a pensioner and can ill afford to loose this money as I need it to purchase a car with lower mileage than my VW.

Mentor3 weeks agoVehicles aren't covered by eBay, so you'd be looking at legal action against your seller, which may prove expensive.
How did you pay, was it bank transfer?

OP3 weeks agoyes used bank transfer. have bought cars from other sellers from ebay over last 20 years with no issues.

Mentor3 weeks agoA bank transfer payment can't be recalled, so I'd contact Citizens Advice or one of the online consumer help sites (National Consumer Service is a good one, lots of free legal advice available there) for guidance on how to proceed via a legal claim.

Mentor3 weeks agoWhen buying a vehicle on ebay, you should inspect or have it inspected, before parting with any money.
No money back guarantee on vehicles, look at listing, getting a refund, could prove expensive and still get nothing.
