I bought a stolen item, but ebay has closed the case, with no information why
I bought a phone from an ebay seller.
The phone turned out to be stolen, and blacklisted, so it can't be used as a phone. I sent the evidence for this.
I asked for return (outside the 30 days window, for various unavoidable reasons), and the seller declined.
I asked ebay to step in, and immediately got denied with message "This return is closed". No other text.
I asked for appeal, but got message "this case cannot be appealed".
How to proceed?
(phone was paid for on credit card, not paypal, stupid me!)

Mentor10 months agoebay never extend their 30 day limit. Contact your CC provider, they should able to help.

OP10 months agothanks for sharing your knowledge.
I will speak to my CC company asap.
One complication is that I am abroad now, so can't get a local UK police report. Let's see what the CC company require.

Not stupid you, smart you!
PayPal buyer protection only lasts for 30 days, like eBay's.
With a credit card you protection is (I think) up to 120 days, and you have the added protection of Section 25 of the Consumer Protection Act for purchases over £100.

Mentor10 months agoNot if you purchase via eBay. You can issue a chargeback but not a Section 75.
You have to pay a seller direct (not via eBay checkout) in order to be able to use Section 75, which you can't do.
