I accepted buyer's counter-offer but now they have not paid
Summary: 14dawnie is experiencing an issue where they accepted a buyer's counter-offer on eBay, but the payment wasn't processed, despite their settings requiring immediate payment. They explain the buyer seems inexperienced and has gone silent after initial communication. john1297576 advises that if immediate payment was a requirement, the item is not considered sold. john1297576 suggests attempting to end the listing and relisting it if possible.
Hi all. Very odd- to me at least. I had sent an offer to 13 watchers. One came back to me via messages with a silly offer which I said no to, they then, on messages again made an offer which I was happy to accept. They only have 33 feedback status so clearly inexperienced and I had to explain that they need to make a counter offer officially for me to be able to accept their offer in order to instigate the sale. I accepted the offer and it now shows as pending but eBay say the could not process the payment. Since then though they've still not paid. I'm pretty sure my settings are offers must be paid immediately. The item is still active, so presumably someone else could still bid on it? I have messaged the buyer but now they have gone silent on me. Can I just end the listing? I'd like to take advantage of the ebay free postage and re-list it at a slightly higher price as I think it would then sell for the price I originally listed it at.
Any advice gratefully appreciated!
thanks in advance
Dawn

Mentor1 week agoIf you required immediate payment, then it is not sold, so you cannot take any action for Non payment.
It is possible that another person could buy, but you may not be able to end the listing immediately as ebay may allow time for payment, but certainly worth trying to end now.

OP1 week agoThanks- i will try. Having just looked it says the offer expires in 3 days but where eBay state they have been unable to process the payment. It says: "We've let the buyer know. You can keep accepting offers in the meantime. The first buyer to pay gets the item."
