How to use the Returns process to offer an exchange?
Summary: deedubveedub mistakenly sent the wrong item to a buyer and intends to send the correct one, acknowledging the error. They are concerned about eBay's Returns process, which lacks an option for exchanges, potentially leading to an automatic refund despite sending the correct item. They seek advice on handling this situation effectively.
I messed up and sent a buyer the wrong part. Totally my fault. The buyer obviously wants the correct part and opened a "Wrong Item" case which is fine. I'm happy to send the correct part and take the extra costs on the chin.
However, Ebay's Returns process offers no option to record that I'm sending an exchange item i.e. the clock is running on Ebay automatically issuing a refund no matter what I do.
So the buyer potentially gets the item and a full refund.
Is there any established process for this sort of situation?
Thanks,
Darryl
