How to Navigate Order Cancellations and Pending Returns in Online Sales

A buyer asked to cancel an order and simultaneously requested a return.

I have not sent out the item yet, but I did print the prepaid postage.

Now, since the return request is marked as pending, the payment is on hold, which means I can't proceed with the cancellation without adding money to my account to balance it out.

How do I cancel orders without incurring additional costs or complications?

Under selling rules if there is no money in the Available section of your Payment Summary, eBay will use your back up source for refunds, which is usually your bank account.

Once the refund has been made, the payout for the item is released to you.

If you do not have enough money in your bank account to cover this refund, then yes, you will have to add money to it, to cover this cost.
