How to confirm receipt when item says it hasn't been dispatched

I bought an item and paid with paypal. The item was too large to be sent via the simple delivery programme, so I agreed to pay the postage when the item arrived. The item arrived safely today and the seller has asked me to confirm receipt so that the funds can be released.
The tracking on the item says that it hasn't been dispatched yet, because the seller got halfway through the process and didn't complete it. So I have no way of confirming that I have received it.
Will the funds eventually be released if I don't mark it as 'not received'? Or do I need to report it as 'not received' and then say it's been resolved?
Needless to say, the AI agent has been of no use whatsoever.

Mentor3 weeks agoNot received would cause a refund in due course. Using ordinary postage instead of Simple Delivery means there is no way for seller to mark as dispatched or you to mark as received.
If you opened a Not received case, then the seller could respond with his tracking number to prove delivery, but that would not be a good idea. Ebay could see it as attempted fraud.
If seller is an established seller he would qualify for release of funds within 24 hours. If he is a newish seller he would not qualify and would have to wait probably 14 days.
