Doesn't matter if it's public. All social media is public, yet you can swear as much as you want 95% of the time. If it bothers someone for whatever reason, there could be an option to hide swear words rather than making everyone coddle them. If swearing is that troublesome to someone, then I truly envy how nice their life must be
Anyway, brilliant I guess. I still think that if the buyer can provide proof that the item never showed up (in my case, it saying "Awaiting dispatch" instead of "Delivered"), then there should be a way to get a refund whether it's 4 days later or 4 years later. £50 is a lot of money to some people, which is why I'm so wound up about it
£50 is a lot of money, I don't think that anyone will dispute that, shame that you didn't notice that you were £50 down 4 years ago when you were within a timeframe when you could have got a refund.
As regards swearing, most forums won't allow it. If you think about it, it's completely unnecessary in most situations, it's superfluous to the information that's being given about a not received order. Time and place and all that jazz.
We'll need to respect each other's opinion on the matter of swearing then. People thinking that it's unnecessary is a subjective opinion. Others thinking that being ordered not to swear is pathetic when none of us are children is also a subjective opinion. Anyway this should conclude this thread, thank you for the time. I'll consider it a cheap-ish lesson on being more careful
Nobody is claiming adults are incapable of swearing, or that they need to be protected from naughty words. The point is that swearing isn't necessary to make an argument, and if a particular public forum has decided to moderate it, then avoiding it is hardly an unreasonable expectation. I can appreciate that these days people want to come across as 'edgy', but that vibe honestly doesn't work on a forum where just the facts are vital.
Calling that "pathetic" because we're not children seems a bit of a non sequitur. Adults generally understand that different environments have different standards and choose how to conduct themselves accordingly.
You're perfectly entitled to think swearing adds something to your posts. eBay and the Mentors here are equally entitled to think that, when it adds nothing, it's unnecessary—and neither opinion requires us to pretend the other person is wrong for having it.
Like I said, we're going to need to respect each other's opinions
I don't know why this needed to turn into a debate, but alright. My opinion is that swearing should be allowed here - your opinion is that it shouldn't. My opinion is that there should be a compromise between those who mind and don't mind swearing, such as a setting that blurs out swearing - your opinion is that those who mind it are more important, and we need to revolve around them. I'm not sure why you're insinuating that I want to be edgy, because if swearing makes you edgy, then I suppose 99.9% of everyone is edgy, which is an objectively flawed philosophy. I'm sure you've sworn many times in your life
Now, would I swear in front of a lady at a formal setting, or in an email to my lawyer for example? No, because that's different. We're all sitting in the comfort of our own homes typing on a device in a non-formal setting. Speaking with a lady in a formal setting or emailing our lawyers is a formal setting. That's the difference
It is subjectively pathetic that those who dislike it (who are in the minority by the way) have to be coddled, instead of an objectively fair compromise like the example above. It's entitled, it's selfish, and it's weak. Like I said, if swearing is the biggest problem in someone's life, then I envy how nice their life must be
That's my opinion, and I'm entitled to it just as much as you're entitled to have the opposite opinion. My opinion isn't superior to yours, and your opinion isn't superior to mine. You're simply standing on the moral high ground to look more impressive, I suppose
I also find your second paragraph incredibly ironic. You're essentially saying what I've just said, that we're allowed our own opinions, yet here you are going to subjectively unnecessary efforts to try and tell me why you're opinion is better than mine. I'll consider this thread a £50 lesson on being more careful. There's nothing else to discuss

I recently ordered some things and I decided to look at my purchase history just to see. I found a pair of headphones that I bought and paid for in April 2022, but I never got them all these years later. I guess I forgot to sort it out back then. I contacted the seller, showed them the screenshot that I ordered them and it still says "Awaiting dispatch", asked for a refund, and didn't get an answer. What are my options? Because whether it was 4 days ago or 4 years ago, £50 is £50 and I never got the package
What about having those headphones delivered to me? Not allowing a refund is one thing, never sending the package is another thing entirely. That's a flawless example of a scam, which is not only against eBay's ToS but also extremely illegal
Whether it was 4 years later doesn't matter. That package should have arrived
You don't know that the seller set out to scam you, your order could've got lost in the post, there's nothing illegal there.
The years that have passed do matter because there are numerous ways for buyers to get their items, even up to 6 months later, but after 4 years there's no route whatsoever to getting one. Neither eBay or a payment provider would be able to access a tracking number going that far back even if they wanted to.
Sorry, I didn't mean to duplicate those comments. I thought my reply would be beneath the green one, but it copied it back here. I don't know how to delete comments to tidy it up so I just edited them out with a -
Like I said, not allowing a refund after 4 years is one thing (and understandable), but never sending the package at any point is another thing entirely. That is a scam, that goes against eBay's ToS, and above all, is illegal. How can I get the package sent?

Mentor3 weeks agoThis a public ebay forum.
You will be banned if you swear.
You can moan all you want, but unless seller is willing to voluntarily refund, nothing you can do.

You have the tools to get refund, but not after 4 years.
