How do sellers obtain a refund/compensation when item sent using simple delivery arrived damaged
Summary: cbobo143 inquired about the process for sellers to obtain a refund or compensation if an item sent via simple delivery arrives damaged. **peaseblossom** marked the response as 'None,' which suggests there might be no additional information or answer provided in this discussion.
Recently sold a record player and sent via eBay simple delivery option (Parcelforce). Item was damaged by courier in transit, buyer was not happy! I therefore had no choice but to agreed to refund the item. I submitted a compensation claim to courier who have rejected my claim because I purchased postage directly through eBay. I spoke to eBay, advisor, he said he wasn't aware of this and I need to go back to carrier. So now I'm forced to go back to Parcelforce who'll no doubt reject my claim again. All seems very unfair to sellers to have to suck up the loss when eBay Simple Delivery pages states that; "You'll be protected if the item is lost or damaged".

Mentor4 months agoAs long as the buyer opens a return using the reason "Item damaged in delivery" ebay will issue the refund and seller keeps payment. Buyer does not have to send the item back. Did the buyer use the wrong reason?
