How do I report a suspected Brushing Scam to eBay UK?
I have recently received a low value item of clothing via eBay Simple Delivery Tracked 48 (No signature required) that I did not order.
So I suspect it has been sent as part of a Brushing Scam...
How do I report this to eBay..?

Mentor3 months agoIf it's a Simple Delivery tracked 48 label there'll be a return address on it in tiny font.
Can you see it?
If so, just cross your address out and write 'return to sender on it' and pop it in your nearest post box.

OP3 months agoThanks - yes, the package has an eBay Simple Delivery tracked 48 label.
I still don't understand how the 'seller' got hold of my name & address or how I report this to eBay...

Mentor3 months agoIt's very odd for a simple delivery sale to go to the wrong person as the seller has nothing to do with the label. Are you sure someone you know hasn't used your account?

OP3 months agoIf someone else had used my account, then there would be a record of any purchase made - which there isn't...

Mentor3 months agoIt may be a Brushing scam, or it may be the seller has just sent the item to the wrong buyer. Low value items are purchased by peeps, on eBay.
If you have purchased any items from eBay, checkout those sellers, they may just have posted to the wrong buyer.
What you can do, is to click on the seller's listings, then down the left sidebar click on Sold. If you find the item there, send that seller a message that you have received their item in error, for them to send you enough money to cover a fully tracked return postage to return the item back to them.
Do not be fobbed off with sending to the correct buyer, it goes back to the seller.

OP3 months agoI have no idea who the 'seller' of the item is - it just appeared out of the blue with no details of any kind.
That's why I suspect it's part of a brushing scam.

Mentor3 months agoWhat makes you think it's an eBay seller ?
If you follow my instructions above to check the last few purchases you made, then on those sellers check their sold items, see if that item of clothing shows.
I received an item yesterday I ordered there were no details of any kind inside or out on the parcel, details are not always present.
If it was sent by an eBay member they had to have your address from somewhere, check your purchases , sellers and their sold items as above.

It doesn't look like any of my previous sellers have sold a similar item recently.
I am concerned how the 'seller' of this item got hold of my name & address and still would like to know how to report this to eBay.
