How do I change the postage option back on a sold item to simple delivery so I can print off the postage label please?
Summary: velcro10wpur expressed concern about shipping a heavy parcel after inadvertently purchasing a postage label despite the buyer having already paid for delivery. They sought advice on how to address what they described as a system failure, questioning whether to wait until after the deadline or seek immediate assistance. tressygirl advised them to visit the post office promptly and pay for counter postage, offering guidance on seeking a refund for the unused label, depending on the original payment arrangement. They suggested that providing tracking details to the buyer could help if a dispute arises about the item not being received.
I have sold a hundred White Dwarf magazines and would have to take the packed parcel, measuring 61cm 30cm 28cm and weighing over 20kg to a post office for collection from there. In order to avoid them saying the postage - £13.63 simple delivery - to be inadequate, I input the parcel measurement above, believing this would be an enquiry option only, discovering afterwards this did not provide any answer and now the only option I had was to buy a postage label when the buyer has already paid this. This is a system failure, and the resolution centre is AI driven and most likely won't give a straight answer. Would I be best off waiting until after the deadline of tomorrow for posting (it's all packed and ready to go and have informed the buyer of the issue last night) has passed so I can respond to a message direct or is there another quicker way of getting Ebay to sort this out even if they have to refund me the postage on my account after I buy what has already paid for?

Mentor1 month agoA refund will be made for the unused SD label to whoever paid for the label this way:
If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days
If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.
I would take the item to your Post Office at the earliest opportunity, pay for over the counter postage, but you will not be able to add any new tracking.
eBay suggest sending the buyer a message with those tracking details. If a case is opened later for item not received, you will be able to add those tracking details.
Your payout for the item may be held for a minimum of 14 days.
