Help with high value sale
Hi.
How do I protect myself from being scammed or a fraudulent purchase of my item with a value of £1580
I see the buyer has protection, but as I've sold this item and the buyer has paid the eBay purchase, what can I do to protect myself when I despatch the high value fragile item.

OP1 month agoJust to update you all. I sent the parcel yesterday for next day delivery with DPD and according to to the tracking, the parcel seems lost
The tracking says.........Sorry, there's a delay with your parcel at our sortation facility; we will update you here shortly
No update since early hours of this morning 🤷♂️

Mentor1 month agoAll you can do is send the item via ebay so that the tracking is valid. If someone sets out to scam someone it's almost impossible to prevent, eg. they return a different item. Odds are that won't happen but check their feedback for any hints of problems. Although sellers are not allowed to leave negative feedback for buyers some still comment on any issues they've had.

OP1 month agoYes I fully understand that you can leave feedback etc but it doesn't get money my item or I keep my money if it's a scam of any kind.
eBay always backs the buyer.

Mentor1 month agoIt's always a risk selling a high value item on eBay, and feedback is not always indicative of how a buyer will ' behave'. Those with high feedbacks also can scam you if they wish!
As said, all you can do is to pack it carefully / securely, tracked with enough insurance cover.

Mentor1 month agoBear in mind that ebay does not cover for that value, you need to use Royal Mail Special Delivery.

Mentor1 month agoYou've got £24.75 as the Royal Mail Special delivery postage cost, when you go to the Post Office to buy the label you can extend the insurance from £750 to cover the value (it will be an extra cost).
