Help With A Counterfeit Watch
Summary: timelords shared a problem with a counterfeit Swatch watch purchased on eBay in August 2024. They discovered it was counterfeit when attempting to replace the battery and faced unhelpful responses from both the seller and eBay, due to the purchase being over 90 days ago. tobiasd4 and arkwebus explained that eBay's Money Back Guarantee typically only covers up to 30 days. arkwebus suggested seeking help from the payment provider or Trading Standards, although support might be limited.
In August 2024 I bought a Swatch watch.
Yesterday I took it into the Swatch retailer to replace the battery and they told me it was counterfeit.
I have contacted the seller who has declined to help and suggests I take it up with eBay.
I have tried to do this through reports, but it rejects the item number (possibly because it is >90 days since purchase).
I cannot get the 'chat' to chat to anything other than AI, which is useless.
Can anyone advise if I can take this up with eBay?
And if so, how?

Mentor3 months agoAs its nearly 2 years since your purchase you are well out of time with ebay and also your payment provider. Sorry there is nothing that eBay or us or yourself can do.

Mentor3 months agoUnfortunately eBay really will not get involved after 30 days but you might get support from your payment provider. If it is a business seller Trading Standards might get involved but - of course - they may claim to be underfunded.
Many years ago I had a similar fake which worked fine and told the time excellently @timelords

After 2 years I doubt anyone will help, as you found not even seller.
