Got told that an item I bought was a fire risk
Today, I received a message stating that an item that I bought in April, is now considered a fire risk.
The problem is that I see similar items on sale, and yet the others have not been removed or flagged up as the same issue

Mentor11 months agoIn theory I doubt if ebay can stop a seller selling items that have been recalled. They will probably have had a notification the same as you. but if they have hundreds of those items they will just want to get rid of them.
Even if you reported the seller it is doubtful if ebay will do anything.
We get posts on here from members who have reported sellers for obvious policy violations and the AI bot says it's fine.

OP11 months agoBut the seller I got this from has the item marked as "This listing has been removed for a policy violation" and highlighted in red, and there's no way to buy this again from said seller

OP11 months agoElectrical items have an "age limit"?

Mentor11 months agoAre you sure they are exactly the same item it may be a certain batch number or have a slightly different ' age' to the item?
Whatever the reason sellers and buyers will have received the same notification, that is all eBay is obliged to do, and it's up to the members how they wish to proceed.
Nothing really you can do.

OP11 months agoI'm pretty certain they're the same
Everything looks identical in shape, colour, power wattage, adapters
The seller sells other electrical items
The item I bought says "This listing has been removed for a policy violation"

Mentor11 months agoIf this is a registered UK seller did they give some guarantee for the item? If so, you can try and pursue this, if they are not helpful, try citizens Advice and you can report the to Trading Standards if you wish to pursue this further.
Sorry, by ' age' in my other post I didn't mean age limit but through different times an item may be modified, design, slightly different, and perhaps this is the one removed from sales? Just a thought.

OP11 months agoThat's a lot of head work over an £9 item "go to Citizen's Advice" etc, I just want to know why other items are like that still on sale, yet this item was pulled, I wonder if anyone from eBay can explain

Mentor11 months agoThere are many reasons items get recalled and may not apply to all batch numbers, production runs or even regions, and may be why similar items are still listed. One thing you will not get is an explanation from eBay.

OP11 months agoThis isn't making any sense, as there are no batch number or serial number. AFAIK, there aren't on any of the photos of what are still sold
