Golf Shoes - Seller Non-response to faulty item
Summary: The discussion revolves around a complaint shared by milesg2003 regarding an unresponsive seller concerning a faulty pair of golf shoes. *guinevere* engaged in the conversation to further probe or provide insight, and milesg2003 responded to continue the dialogue. The thread included additional input from red_magpie, suggesting multiple participants were involved in discussing the seller's non-responsiveness. Despite these exchanges, there is no resolution captured in the discussion.
I recently bought a secondhand pair of golf shoes which were advertised as Footjoy brand. Upon arrival, although they were not the brand advertised, they looked to be a very comfortable shoe and as I was going away for a golf weekend one day later, I decided to keep and use them. Whilst away, during my first round wearing them, the soles on both became unglued and on both shoes very bad cracks appeared in the uppers with the white paint falling off in large areas. As I was away and didn't want to pay £100+ for a set of new shoes at the golf club, I decided to glue the soles back on to make them usable, intending to contact the seller upon my return.
Having got home, I sent messages and many pictures (prior to gluing) to the seller asking them to respond with a plan to resolve the problem, however I have had no response a week later. The shoes were not mega expensive, however they were not the brand advertised in the sale and have obviously not been fit for purpose. What action can I take via Ebay to resolve this?

Mentor2 months agoWhen goods are faulty, never waste time contacting seller, just open acnot as described case. You only have 30 days, and many sellers will just allow you get out of time, to get a refund through ebay, even worse, if you pay by paypal, they also only allow 30 days, so no way to get refund.

Mentor3 months agoAre you still within 30 days of receipt of the shoes? Open a return using the reason "Does not match description or photos.".
Your seller cannot ignore this and is obliged to send you a prepaid return label for you to return for refund.
If he does ignore you, escalate your case after 3 full days for ebay to step in.

OP2 months agophotos within the 30 days.
After messaging them again yesterday to say that I was looking at
escalating the issue with eBay, I finally got a short response but it was
very vague, made no sense and didn't offer me any solution.

If by "them" you mean the seller, contacting the seller is irrelevant.
If you want help from eBay, you must open a case under eBay's money back guarantee within 30 days of the date of delivery. After this time limit has expired eBay will have no interest, whatever happens.
As has been said, depending upon how you paid you may still be able to get help from your payment provider, e.g. credit or debit card issuer.
