Freeze on payouts due to stolen item
As the title informs my accounts been frozen. A buyer claimed the item was stolen the postage service said it was delivered and the police have issued a crime number yet eBay is holding me the sellers funds as collateral seems to be unfair practice but within the law due to service provision. This was the last straw for me, it’s the end of my account business with them

OP1 month agoI too thought it an open and shut matter. It appears to be a more sinister case. This was over three months ago. EBay officials forwarded the case information to debt collectors who began hassling me immediately ! The police crime number stopped their action but EBay have yet to correctly administrate my account.

Mentor1 month agoThis is an unusual situation, but if the buyer has opened a money back guarantee case it's routine for eBay to put a hold on the seller's funds.
eBay normally goes by the tracking record and if the item is recorded as delivered to the buyer's address I would expect the case to be found in your favour.
I imagine that the allegation of theft refers to theft from the doorstep after delivery? If so, I'm afraid this is increasingly commonplace. The buyer has every right to report this to the police, but theft after delivery isn't covered by eBay's money back guarantee and shouldn't affect eBay's decision making.
