For a charity what do I use as Business Registration number?
Summary: jrwrshop was setting up a charity account but encountered issues as they did not have a business registration number, only a charity commission reference. *vyolla* suggested checking the type selected, and tommystrezures assumed the charity number would suffice. After consulting eBay support, it was recommended to format the charity number with leading zeros to match the expected format. jrwrshop successfully resolved the issue by doing this, and was informed that verification could take 3-5 business days.
I am creating a charity account. I have everything set up apart from I keep being asked for business registration number. As we are a charity this is not applicable as we are registered with the Charity commission but not with companies house. I keep being told that the business information that I have provided does not match what is in the company document. I have sent our charity registration certificate and also tried our constitution. Am told that the business registration number does not match the documentation but that is because we do not have one.

OP1 month agoI would have thought so too but there is nowhere to enter it and it does not fit in the business number as it is the wrong format sadly

After you have selected the business type as charity it should allow you to proceed with the charity number. Are the name, address, and charity information on the banking account matching the name and information on the eBay account?

OP1 month agoThanks for coming back to me, it turns out that I needed to add leading 0's to the charity registration number so that it becomes 8 digits. Our charity number is only 7 digits. Hopefully that is now sorted.
