Fish Cutlery with Age Verified Delivery Removed for Policy Violation
I listed a set of 1924 sterling silver fish cutlery with age verified delivery (see attached screenshot of postage policy).
It was removed for policy violation.
I cannot appeal the decision as this option is greyed-out
The person I spoke to on the phone told me he would lose his job if he helped me.
I recently sold one of four fruit knives, paid £11 for age verified delivery, bizarrely the purchaser's dog found the parcel in the garden without being verified at all - then ebay took down the listing.
I don't get it, it's completely beyond my understanding. Generally it's not unusual for me to be singled out for particularly bad treatment but this seems particularly strange, especially given the sheer quantity of knives of all kinds listed and sold without age verification.
Does anyone have any advice?

Mentor5 months agoagh but the dog was probably over 18 in dog years.... After their first year its 7 years aging per human year!
That aside from the picture you posted have you tried unticking the free postage button so it then lets you (or rather it should let you) access the age verification bit on the listing.
I suspect the system because you are offering free postage, may think you wont put it on age verification?

OP5 months agohaha, you could be right, I didn't ask the age of the dog!
I have to use a previously set up postage policy, which system is so cumbersome and impractical that you end up scores of postage policies to tailor to individual listings.
The algorithm is mistaken, and using an algorithm is a mistake.

Mentor5 months agoI think the problem is that seller is expected somehow to verify the buyers age which seems rather difficult to do. Ebay could deal with this by restricting methods of payment to Credit Cards only.
As far as the large number of knives etc. listed, I think you will find a lot are listed outside the UK, where the rules do not apply.
I find it amusing about the dog, just proves what I have always thought, rules made up by politicians and civil servants, while having good intentions, either cause inconvenience or are frequently ignored in practice..

OP5 months agoIt's an interesting thought but, no, I used the UK only filter. I'm not convinced limiting purchases to credit cards would be useful, given how many parents give their children one.
This is now all a moot point, ebay have allowed my fish cutlery to be listed, also my fruit knives with a special note on my account because the customer service agent had to admit they were okay and I did actually have age verified delivery.
