First time selling to USA
Summary: jonathand272 is seeking advice on selling an item to a buyer in the USA through eBay. They have calculated potential fees for a £180 offer, including a 3% international fee and 20% VAT. tommystrezures suggests considering the US duty fee, advising that using eBay’s Global Shipping Program might be beneficial. jonathand272 inquires about verifying their participation in the program and clarifies fee applicability. john1297576 adds that US duty fees can vary significantly, suggesting that the standard 10% rate may not apply to all items.
Hi,
I have an item listed that a buyer from the USA is interested in.
They made me an offer via a message and are wanting all fees and shipping included within that price.
I have spoken with ebay and want to check if I have my sums correct re the charges I would be eligible for if I accepted the offer.
If the offer made is equivalent of £180, am I correct in thinking that I would liable for the following charges:
3% International Fee -
3% of £180 = £5.40
20% VAT -
20% of £180 = £36.00
So total Charges £5.40 + £36.00 = £41.40
£180 - 41.40 = £138.60 ??
Many thanks
Jonathan

It is not fixed at 10% , a friend has found some items at 20% and even higher. She sells jewellery and it appears the time for a standard rate of 10% has expired.
Not sure how our VAT would come into the figure, as said best to let Global sort it out, as getting it wrong could prove expensive.

Mentor3 weeks agoDont forget duty for the US @10% as well. (Plus Royal Mail handling fee) YOu may be better sending the item via the global shipping programme as the buyer will have an upfront fee to pay.

OP3 weeks agoThank you. Daft question but how do I know if I've got it listed under the global shipping programme?

OP3 weeks agoI've got it as this on the listing so am assuming I'm already set up?

OP3 weeks agoIf I sell via Global Shipping Programme, do all of the fees I mentioned earlier still apply?

Mentor3 weeks agoAll fees apply eg international fee etc but you just ship to the uk hub. EBay take of the rest. But when the buyer is invoiced eBay calculate what is owed if you will.
