Faulty item ..Ebay found in favour of seller
Summary: mper147 shared their experience of purchasing a head unit for their BMW, highlighting issues with missing parts and faulty performance. Despite contacting the seller multiple times and receiving delayed and unsatisfactory responses, they were unable to resolve the issue through eBay as the 30-day return window had closed. mper147 also attempted to contact the manufacturer for support under a one-year warranty but received no assistance, leaving them feeling unfairly treated and seeking advice on their rights.
Hi.i bought a head unit for my bmw in November last year..contacted seller and told them some bits were missing.Seller didn't get back to me for about 3 weeks and promised to send it..I fitted head unit as it was only a fascia missing and it was getting boiling hot, knocking off after about 20 minutes and half the features didn't work.i sent another message to seller and he didn't reply until after Christmas AFTER the 30 day return was up.I still hadn't received the missing part and they asked for a video of unit..more weeks passed and they agreed it was faulty and said they'd replace it..I was happy with that and waited..I waited for 3 weeks before contacting them again and was ignored and ignored..started a case with Ebay and they found in FAVOUR of the seller because it was over 30 days..I think I have been treated EXTREMELY unfairly and protested the outcome which fell on deaf ears..I've even tried getting hold of the manufacturer because it has a 1 YEAR warranty and they won't even send me a last resort UPDATE to try and salvage the unit..do I have ANY rights here at all???..doesn't seem like.
Thanks for looking..any help would be very much appreciated.

Mentor1 week agoeBay don't work on a seller's warranty only on their 30 day MBG Money Back Guarantee policy which unfortunately, the seller led you on a dance to get you over that time limit to claim a fully refund.
Never listen to a seller's excuses and empty promises when you receive a faulty item, or one with missing parts. You do not need to message the seller at all, especially when you see delaying tactics, but to open that case immediately, escalate on day 4 if there's no refund or return label .
Buying in November, you are also too late to claim from your payment provider, most offer a 120 day buyer protection policy.
Was this a UK business seller who offered this one year warranty? Then, turn to Citizens Advice now if you wish to pursue this further.
