Faulty 4 in 1 charging cable purchased, how to return undelivered item
Morning,
Some advice please. I purchased a 4 in 1 charging cable Sun 18th, which has interchangeable ends for USBC, USBCA and lightning. Item listed as delivery by Free Royal Mail 2nd Class. Received yesterday which looks like from the label it was via Evri.
I tested the cable functionality and lightning and USBCA doesn't work only USBC does. The item in my purchase history is showing :
Est. delivery Sat 24 Jan - Sat 31 Jan
Returns accepted through 2 Mar.
As it doesn't reflect delivery completed, I do not have the option normally found under more actions to return the item. I presume because the system thinks it has not been delivered. How may I initiate a return? I know from previous experiences with returns, some scrupulous sellers can be problematic when messaging for returns/ exchanges so wanted to protect my self and use the official process.

Keep it simple.
Don't be tempted to leave leave long message or mention ebay or refund.
"Unsatisfactory transaction" is within ebay policy.

Mentor6 months agoClick "Ebay help" top right of page and open item not as described case.
Seller provides returns label, you post back for full refund.
Escalate on day 4 if no label or refund.
Tracking status is not relevant.

OP6 months agoThanks very much. I should really have assumed that the long postage was due to it coming from an eastern location.

Mentor6 months agoReturns go back to location shown on listing. If it says located in UK, that is where it goes back to and if it came from outside the UK then seller should be reported for false location showing.

OP6 months agoThanks, I guess they have circumvented that by registering with a uk address, it is listed with a uk address, the evri label doesn’t have a returns address, but interestingly does have England on my address, so I’ll wait for the eBay provided turns label, but It has an address in Shenzhen, China in the label of the cable.

Mentor6 months agoIf the item was located in China and seller insists on it being returned to China (which isn't covered be eBay's system for return labels in the UK) see the advice given by an eBay rep. some time ago:
For a not as described case the seller must provide a return label that matches the item location given at the time the purchase was made. So if the item is meant to be in the UK the return address should be UK.
Now if a seller is based outside of the UK, lets use China as the example, and the item is sent from China it is still the sellers' responsibility to provide means of return to the buyer if it's a not as described case. This should be a label or payment for the buyer to send the item back. If the seller does not provide means of return within the seller make it right period the buyer can reach out to our teams and we escalate the case. What normally would happen here is that the agent will send the seller a warning that they have 5 days to provide means of return or we will close the case in the buyer's favour.
A seller can buy an international label (direct through a courier) and provide it to the buyer or the monetary value to send the item back if the buyer is willing to physically go buy the label.

OP6 months agoThanks, I appreciate your advice.
The automated ebay message says that I should receive a return postage label by 29th Jan. I presume if I do not receive it, I can escalate once that date has passed.

OP6 months agoHi,
Thanks for you advice. I just received an eBay message;
You were issued a refund for your return.
Here's a summary of your refund. You should receive it in 3-5 working days.
no communication from the seller, nor returns label, just a refund so i presume they wouldn't like the cable back.
Would you still recommend reporting the seller, submitting negative feedback, wait for the refund to be processed or just accept the refund and do no further?
