My daughter has created A4 prints of a character from Arcane and wants to sell framed prints of this work on eBay. She does not have permission from Riot Games to sell work based on Arcane so am I correct in assuming it is not legal to sell these prints for profit? I have seen others selling Arcane-based fan art - Im assuming these sellers have permission?

Mentor3 months agoYes you are correct if you have no permissions you cannot sell full stop, whether its for profit or not, I would give it a wide berth as the US legal bods can be a bit zealous!
Secondly how old is your daughter - I mean is she over 18 and can she legally sell on eBay?
Thirdly if she does get permission to sell then she will need to operate on a business account as she is making items to sell.

Mentor3 months agoWe see sellers here on a regular basis who've received legal demands from US lawyers that they've ending up having to pay.
My advice is if you don't have permission to exploit that copyright for commercial gain, then steer very clear. Whether the other sellers have permission or not I couldn't tell, but it's their problem.
