Experiences with Package Deliveries: How Do You Handle Lost or Stolen Items?
Summary: geoffgefh shared an experience about receiving an empty envelope, suspecting theft during delivery, and sought advice on preventing such issues. *vyolla* inquired whether geoffgefh was the buyer or seller, suggesting that the buyer should inform the seller and open a return for 'Missing parts or pieces'. geoffgefh had initially claimed the items were not delivered, but their claim was rejected by eBay's system, so they appealed. tobiasd4 advised changing the case type, and *vyolla* suggested closing the initial claim and reopening a return, emphasizing the complexities of navigating delivery issues and eBay's policies.

Please ensure security and advise sellers to disguise envelopes where possible containing coins and valuable items.
I have had 2 purchased items in one envelope stolen on route with Royal Mails network.
Worryingly ebays buyers protection cannot be relied upon!

Mentor1 month agoAre you the buyer or the seller here?
Royal Mail usually place damaged envelopes or packages in a plastic badge with a notification asking the recipient to check the contents.

OP1 month agoA buyer. 2 coins were sent inside 2 small envelopes, top corners are torn just enough to remove crown coins. Royal Mail did not notify or chose to ignore?

Mentor1 month agoThat's surprising. All you can do in those circumstances is to inform the seller and open an eBay return and select 'Missing parts or pieces' as the reason. You may then need to return the packaging to the seller if they issue a pre-paid returns label, though photos should be sufficient for them to claim from Royal Mail.

OP1 month agoYes thanks, thats what I should have done but unfortunately I have claimed stating items not delivered! consequently ebays AI has rejected claim but appeal in now in place, so hopefully justice will be done.

Mentor1 month agoOnly time you can change case type.
Close item not received case & open item not as described case.

Mentor1 month agoI doubt you'll be able to appeal that. I'd close that claim and open a return.

OP1 month agoThanks yes just trying to be honest ,but sometimes it does not pay! Already had initial claim rejected!! Will have a rethink.

Mentor1 month agoIt's an easy mistake, but opening an item not received claim wasn't the way to go here, only because there was a tracking number showing that something did arrive. It was a return you required. Not crystal clear though, I admit.
