Excessive eBay postage
I sold a football programme for £4.99 and eBay have taken £2.72 for postage which would cost me £1.55 maximum at post office. I thought items under £20 where now up to the seller to decide what postal service to use ?

Mentor10 months agoEbay have very carefully avoided giving details of categories exempt.
When you are listing if you are given an option to choose then that means you can opt out, but most unsatisfactory system.
For future use if selling an item up to £20 and 100 gms, which can go large letter, look for another seller with a similar item. If the postage quoted is for example £1.55, or under £2.70 which appears the cheapest Simple Delivery do, click on the left side where it says something like “got similar to sell”.
That will give you a draft of the listing including the most important bit, CATEGORY. Use that category and you should then get the option to use your own method of posting.
Again ebay not being helpful, no longer shows the category used on listings, which is why it is necessary to use the method I have given above, to find the exempt category.
