Evri say parcel was heavier than it actually was and then Ebay deduct money from seller funds
I am a private seller so have to use Simple Delivery. I listed an item as under 1 kg with Royal Mail small parcel dimensions (because it was only 500g, and when packed was 987g and under those dimensions). The buyer chose Evri, and the labels turn up with an email, that says it can be up to 15kg, 120cm long max and 245cm circumference plus length. It was under the Royal Mail dimensions so is therefore well under the Evri max size/weight, so that isn't a problem. 2 weeks later I get an email from Ebay saying they have deducted money from my funds because Evri says it weighed 1.5kg. Quite simply it didn't. I have tried contacting Ebay but just get told to claim off Evri (which I can't because Evri's contract is with Ebay not me, so even if I could find a human being at Evri they would not be legally allowed to talk to me about it. I have no contract with Evri). Then Ebay just tell me they have no system for refunding money deducted in error, even if I have the proof (which I do) that it was within the size limits. What do I do? Its not a lot of money, but it is the 2nd time it has happened and since I don't have a choice in using Simple Delivery, I run the risk of this happening every single time I sell an item. How can I claim the money they have taken wrongly, and how do I stop it happening again. And why does the email that comes with Evri labels apparently give the wrong information?

Mentor5 months agoIt's always best to pack your items before you list them so you have an accurate weight. If Evri are unreliable you can opt out of using them here:

But you are selling a lot of new items so should really register as a business seller on ebay. Then you won't have to use Simple Delivery at all.

OP5 months agoI'm a genuine private seller, getting rid of stuff from my partners house that she has built up over time, and we are clearing her late father's house, he died last year. So NOT a business seller. Also the weight WAS accurate, thats the point. The packed parcel weight 987g, and was listed as under 1kg. I may have to turn off Evri but that limits some items we can sell as they are not practical to send with Royal Mail, and the whole idea is to clear out the house, not get left with big stuff we can't get rid of. There must be a way of not being penalised when not doing anything wrong.
