Entitled to refund?
Hi, I contacted the seller for an item I bought on 28th October 2024 which is now faulty on 14th October 2025 but due to family emergencies and ill health including my brother being hospitalised and my son contracting a viral infection, I haven’t been able to respond to the seller until this week. They say that they cannot help with anything because the 1year warranty has now passed. I’ve asked them to consider my initial contact made about the same issue and product since this was before the year warranty but they are refusing to help. Is it right that they’re not willing to help in this case?

After eBay's 30 day money back guarantee has expired they won't get involved. After almost a year it's too late now even to get help from your payment provider, e.g.credit or debit card.
If the seller is a UK busness seller you may still have some statutory consumer rights - although trying to enforce them against distant, uncooperative eBay sellers can be difficult or pointless. Take advice first.
If the seller is private seller or abroad you will probably just have to pay for repairs yourself, or scrap it. Buying from unknown sellers on eBay is not like buying from the shops.

Mentor10 months agoUnfortunately you may be entitled to a refund but getting it is another matter. You are out of time to do anything via ebay or payment providers so you'd be looking at something like money claim online (formerly small claims court), if the value makes it worthwhile:

Also try Citizens Advice in case they can offer other ideas.
