Does Ebay have an email address, to ask questions?
It is a complicated situation.
Much easier to write than phone.

Mentor9 months agoUnfortunately there are some bad sellers out there, who spoil it for the vast majority at times. For now you don't need to message them anymore, but keep the messages incase ebay need to see them.
When the item arrives, if it is not as described eg does not work or is faulty, and this isn't or wasn't mentioned in the listing you need to goto purchase history find the item click more actions and then open a case for not as described/faulty.
Ebay will then issue a label for you to return the item to the seller. (this may vary if a simple delivery, non the less you MUST open a case as I mentioned) Return the item and then the seller has three days to refund. If not ensure you escalate the case to get the refund. On the label ebay issue you ensure you get it scanned at the post office, to activate the scanning. Placing in a letter box (if small enough) wont be suffice.
If you need further help please come back one of us will assist you.

The link above is for you (if needed) to get a call back from customer services. However my and other mentors advice would be to wait until the morning and try then as you will stand a better chance of getting someone in Dublin to help you further.

OP9 months agoI don't know, that was my intention before today, return it when arrives.
But after today I don't know. He said don't open it, but if a cardboard box that's empty and I return it will say I did not return it, and he says if open it I will do something to it and he will report that to Ebay. But I don't think anyway he will refund. Its the threats I don't like because of the order will have both home and work addresses. I know you are right but my heads a muddle at the moment with this. Just want it to go away and settle down. Just wish I could get my money back, but they still let him keep to calm him down, but I know that will not happen.

·9 months agoIf the seller is making threats, then you must report them to the police.
To get your money back, just follow the Ebay process.
The refund will come from the seller, not Ebay - if you want the seller to keep the money, you will have to keep the item you have bought.

OP9 months agoIts all in ebay messages the admitting was faulty after I bought it, after I queried the slight looking crack, and the threats today, plus other messages for the past 4 days. It maybe hard to believe and some may not understand, and I know you are both right, but just scared you know if he gets the money taken away or I return. I was going to do that before today. If I report him or take the money away, he is still out there., I am in my 50s so I been around not easily afraid. I will wait til comes and decide then 😣 Photos wasn't clear only 1 slightly saw a mark, rest were the screen was dark or off, but taught me to study really close the photos not that will buy anything like that again.

OP9 months agoHi
I reported the messages and threat messages to ebay.
Work wasn't happy when told someone & made me report it there. (as was going to workplace)
Have to wait for the item to come now to log a return, that case now ends 17th oct.
All this could had been avoided if he just refunded me soon as bought as requested
Made me look bad at work to, things were running smoothly before all this.

·9 months agoNo.
You can ask your questions in the forum - lots of experienced members will try to help if you explain your issue, and advise on 'next steps'.
If you don't want to explain here, I would advise that you write down what you need to say and then get a callback tomorrow morning when you are more likley to get a callback from Dublin.

OP9 months agoThis has been going on for 4 days non-stop messages between seller, really stressing me out.
To cut a long story short, they been making excuses not refund an item even though asked for refund before sent, I know this is a faulty item queried a small mark like a hair on screen on 1 photo when enlarged, afterwards learnt also faulty, listed as Used and Fully Operational option, nothing in description cept see photos but nothing was clear, gave excuse cannot refund and screenshot he showed all he had to do was enter a payment source, said he did not have paypal and would not lose £20.00 for my mistake whatever that is for.... Item £200.00 wasn't sent but shows it is now. If it does come I am tempted to just lose the money and keep it was threatening to come down in messages now if open parcel and continue with wanting a refund or returning it and messaging. If ebay refund me and take the money from him back I am scared will come. I don't suppose ebay can refund me and still let him keep the money? I know thats a stupid question but may carry out the threats if that money if taken from him. So do not want to report at the moment just want it all to go away and calm down. Was more nasty messages. Maybe the seller is ok and just under some kind of stress but doesn't really help me! I am NEVER NEVER NEVER buying anything expensive on ebay again over £50 (or Amazon now either) will go to a normal High Street Store what I should have done in the first place. Lesson learnt. Been with ebay 25 years never experienced nothing like this. I will probably just keep it try get some money back for spares, least get some back.

But like say since today and the way its spoilt my weekend and what was said, tempted to keep now and lose the money which can't afford 😑😔😪 really doubt I will sell or buy anything on ebay now cept buy things like Cables cheap like that.

·9 months agoSo, currently, there is nothing to report the seller for.
I am not 'taking sides' - just trying to help.
You have decided, after you agreed to buy it and paid, that the item you have bought is likely to be faulty.
You have asked the buyer to cancel it and they have refused. They are within their rights to refuse a cancellation. Ebay rules state that you can ask for a cancellation and refund but the seller can refuse.
My advice would be as follows:
Don't message the seller again
Don't contact Ebay again - there is currently nothing that they can do.
Wait for the item to arrive.
When you receive it, if the fault you feel is present is actually there and it was not mentioned in the listing, you should start a return case. see the link below but don't start a return until you have received and checked the item.
Use the reason 'item did not match description'.
If the seller messages you, ignore them. If they don't provide a label within 3 days of your opening the case, you can ask Ebay to step in. They may issue a label on the seller's behalf or they may refund you from the seller's funds.
Send the item back.
The seller has 48 hours from receipt to refund you. If they don't, go back to the case and ask Ebay to step in.
The whole process is automated and really quite simple.
