Ebay Won't Get Involved - What Can I Do?
Summary: enyamp purchased counterfeit Nike trainers from a seller on eBay and is struggling to hold the seller accountable after eBay declined to intervene due to time constraints. They contacted the seller, who apologized but has not refunded the money. eBay also doesn't allow feedback as it's outside the 60-day window. Other participants suggested contacting the payment provider for a refund or chargeback. enyamp inquired about further steps if the payment was made from their eBay balance.
Hello Ebay Community
I would like to ask for some advice and help in holding a seller to account.
I have purchased what have turend out to be a pair of counterfeit Nike trainers from a private seller.
I was away when the trainers arrived. I didn't wear them for about a fortnight after purchase. On the second occasion I wore them, I noticed that the distinctive metal lace tag had broken. I've had other pairs of these trainers (Air Force One style) and this has never happened.
I took the shoes to the Nike store in London, so I could compare them with a new pair. The metal lace tag should have been robust as is the case with other pairs I've purchased. A member of staff agreed.
I didn't want to confront the seller directly, but Ebay wouldn't get involved as this was at the 30+ days stage. I contacted the seller. They apologised and said that the trainers had been a gift. I asked whether they would refund my money and I've heard nothing.
I've asked Ebay if they will allow me to leave feedback: they will not, as this is outside of 60 days. Therefore I can't even advise/warn other buyers through feedback. I would like my money returned, but I'd settle for being able to warn other Ebay members about this seller's behaviour.
I've contacted Citizens Advice but I'm not hopeful.
I've been a buyer and seller on Ebay for over 20 years and I've never had a more frustrating situation. Please can I ask: does anyone have any advice to offer here?
Thank you in advance.

Mentor1 month agoI'm afraid there's nothing else you can do on ebay but of its under 120 days contact your payment provider amd ask about a refund or chargeback. Good luck.

OP1 month agoThanks for responding. If the payment came from my Ebay balance, do I ask them (again)?

Mentor1 month agoIf you used your eBay balance then you can't claim a refund.
For future reference, always file a return within 30 days of receiving your order and I would transfer your balance out and pay with a debit card at eBay checkout (that would give you 120 days cover to issue a not as described chargeback).
